Best Cafés Near Provenza
(2025 Guide)
Welcome to Colombia
Tucked into the heart of Medellin, Provenza is where Colombia’s legendary coffee culture meets lush green streets, boutique vibes and digital nomad energy. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can grab a flat white, crack open your laptop and suddenly wonder where the past 3 hours went.
Colombia may be known around the world for its coffee, but in Provenza, cafés are more than just coffee, they’re your office, your brunch spot, your meet-up zone and your go-to recharge station.
Here are some of our favorite Provenza cafés, all within strolling distance of Alto Selva.
Pergamino Café
Pergamino Café is a cornerstone of Medellin's specialty coffee scene, founded by Colombian coffee producers and offering a true farm-to-cup experience. With beans sourced from over 600 local farmers, this spot is known internationally. It’s also one of the most famous cafés in Medellin for visitors and digital nomads, so expect a bit of a line during peak hours.
The leafy outdoor terrace is ideal for people-watching, but if you’re planning to work, head inside or upstairs to the quieter coworking-style space. Their food is fresh, brunch-oriented and consistently excellent.
Bonus: they ship coffee to the U.S., so you can keep sipping Pergamino long after your trip.
Urbania Café
Urbania Café is a social enterprise and coffee roaster supporting small Colombian growers. They have several cafes around town and also roast for other cafés around Medellin, so chances are you've tried their beans even if you didn’t realize it.
With minimalist design and peaceful energy, it’s an excellent place to slow down, sip a V60, and knock out some work.
Macanas Café
Macanas hails from Jardín, a colorful town in Antioquia and brings that small-town charm with it. Their Medellin café is filled with natural light, lush greenery and coloful tiled tables that invite long, relaxed brunches.
They specialize in Colombian-style sweets and pastries and there’s even a gift shop stocked with local treats, think fruits in syrup, arequipe (also with coconut or figs), traditional biscuits and small-batch marmalades. Great for picking up something unique to take home.
Café Dragon
Café Dragón is your go-to for something a little quirky. The space is artsy and warm, with great music and friendly staff. It runs as a café by day and transforms into a gastropub at night, their pizza is a standout.
It’s the kind of spot where you can come with your laptop in the morning and end up staying for a beer accompanied by live music or a dj in the evening.
Ely Café Wake
Ely Café Wake leans into a clean, modern aesthetic with plenty of space and a menu focused heavily on brunch. It’s great for a long breakfast meeting or a quiet place to ease into the day.
You’ll find lots of global influences on the menu and a well-heeled crowd. Less of a laptop hub, more of a refined “treat yourself” morning spot.
Marmettina
Tributo al Arte Dulce
Marmettina is a dessert café that went viral for its over-the-top creations. The star of the show? The New York-style croissants stuffed with bold fillings like Rocher, Red Berry Cheesecake, and the “Dubai Supreme” made with pistachio and knafeh.
Another crowd favorite is the gold bullion-shaped chocolate cake, literally covered in edible gold and embossed with a dollar sign. It’s sweet, theatrical and surprisingly chill inside, definitely a must-visit for your Medellin dessert bucket list.
